Highview Stud's first-season sire Mr Mozart will have the strongest representation of any freshman stallion at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale at Karaka, held June 25.
The son of Snitzel, who stands at Highview Stud for NZ$6,000 plus GST, has six weanlings cataloged for Thursday's sale, reflecting the strong support he has received since retiring to stud.
Majority-owned by Jamieson Park, Mr Mozart was bred and raced by the farm and enjoyed a successful racing career in Australia, winning the Phar Lap Stakes (G2), Hawkesbury Guineas (G3), Doncaster Prelude (G3), and the Exford Plate.
"He has served 80 mares in each of his first two seasons and has had great support at that price point," Jamieson Park's Dylan Ralph said.
Ralph said Mr Mozart is leaving athletic, medium-sized stock and noted the stallion's strong genetic appeal as a son of champion sire Snitzel, who continues to dominate Australian sire premierships.
Jamieson Park remains firmly committed to the stallion, with 14 mares currently in foal to him, including group 1 winner Faint Perfume and the dam of fellow group 1 winner Inspirational Girl.
Jamieson will offer a Mr Mozart filly from Lipstick Lover (Lot 132), an I Am Invincible mare from a family that includes group 1-winning sire Ilovethiscity.
Other vendors offering Mr Mozart progeny include Haunui Farm, Brighthill Farm, and Leanach Lodge.
Among the other first-season sires represented at Karaka are Chaldean (Frankel ), Paddington (Siyouni) and Hilal (Fastnet Rock), each with two weanlings cataloged.
Jamieson Park will also present an Ace High filly (Lot 119) from the family of Evalina and a Sweynesse colt (Lot 140) from the family of Railway Stakes (G1) winner Santa Monica.
