Charles Town Lowers Takeout on Pick 3s, Daily Doubles
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has announced it will lower the takeout on all Pick 3 and Daily Double wagers to 15%. In addition, the Late Pick 3 minimum bet and wheel will increase to $3 and the Late Daily Double minimum and wheel will increase to $5. The Pick 3 previously carried a takeout rate of 22% with a $1 minimum bet in $.50 increments. Daily doubles had a takeout rate of 19% with a $2 minimum wager in $1 increments. The takeout reduction will apply to all wagers in these pools, while the minimum wager changes will apply only to the Late Pick 3 and Late Daily Double. The changes will take effect starting with the July 9th card. Charles Town wrapped up the first half of its 2026 racing calendar on Saturday, June 27. At the midway point, trainer Ronney Brown leads the standings with 75 wins, 19 ahead of second-place conditioner Anthony Farrior (56 wins). Jeff Runco and Kevin Joy are tied for third with 42 wins each, while Michael Jones, Jr. rounds out the top five with 24 victories. Arnaldo Bocachica tops the jockey standings with 71 wins. Moises Santaella sits in second with 63 victories, followed by J.D. Acosta (43), Denis Araujo (34), and Justin Lewis (33). Charles Town's premier night of racing—featuring the $1 million Charles Town Classic (GII) and $750,000 Charles Town Oaks (GII)—takes place on Friday, August 28. Nominations for the night's open stakes races, including the $500,000 Robert Hilton Memorial for three-year-olds and the $300,000 Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes for older fillies and mares, close on Friday, August 14. The Charles Town Classic Festival kicks off at 4 p.m. on race day and will feature four live bands, nearly 20 food trucks, and family-friendly entertainment.
