The Big A Taking Memories With It (Aqueduct closing had me) crying my eyes out! Another thing from my childhood biting the dust; very upsetting! I've been watching races from the Big A since, as a kid, in the '60s. Every Saturday on CBS, 4:30-5 p.m., aired the "Race of the Week" from New York. I watched, in my bedroom, on my big 19" B&W portable TV. For years, I thought the Belmont Stakes was run at Aqueduct!!! I saw the Kelso vs. Gun Bow rivalry (my mother was a "Kelly" fan so, of course, I rooted for Gun Bow!) The Phipps' horses, highlighted by my favorite, the great Buckpasser, and some of their others: Bold Lad, King Emperor, Queen Empress, Queen of the Stage, Stupendous, Impressive, etc. And, of course, those great mares of the '60s: Affectionately, Tosmah, Old Hat, Straight Deal (whose winningest year was as a 5-year-old!), and Moccasin, to name a few. Two of my favorites based on their names: Going Abroad (something I couldn't wait to do) and Third Martini (sounded so cool!). Of course, that show went away; now Aqueduct is closing, and we're losing a horse racing TV channel! For the past 20-plus years, I've died and gone to heaven being able to watch U.S. and foreign races every day. With the new, state-of-the-art Belmont Park, I hope that FOX steps up to the plate. The sport I love deserves daily television coverage. For goodness sake, this is the USA; the U.K. has been airing horse races daily for decades!!! (I saw my first Derby on TV over there in 1985!) As for Aqueduct, RIP Grand Dame! Sincerely, Chetty Ferry Devon, Pa. FanDuelTV's Expertise Will Be Missed I would just like to say how disappointing it is that FanDuel has decided to let its commentators go. I have been watching TVG since the inception of on-demand services. I guess about 27 years or more. I feel like I know these good people, and many of them I have met on the track at Keeneland and Churchill Downs. I have been an avid race fan since I saw Kauai King win the Derby in 1966 as a child. The immense amount of information that they provided in regard to horse profiles, jockeys, trainers, owners, intricacies of training, breeding, and all other aspects of racing is exactly the knowledge that true horse racing fans love to hear. Each and every one of them will be missed, and I hope to see them again at some point. And also, thank you, BloodHorse, for providing me with an excellent publication that I have subscribed to for over 25 years. You are truly a Thoroughbred lover's dream! P.S. The Stallion Register is the ultimate eye candy!! Beverly Ballard Louisville, Ky.
