Field of Gold, Europe's champion 3-year-old miler, has been retired from racing as of June 5 and will begin a new chapter at stud with Juddmonte in 2027.

The horse is set to make a full recovery from the setback involving a bacterial lung infection that kept him from his intended group 1 targets this season—the Lockinge Stakes (G1) and the Queen Anne Stakes (G1). He will not be ready to return to top-level racing this year leading Juddmonte's decision to prepare him for his career at stud.

Field of Gold made an immediate impression as a juvenile, following a 3 1/4-length maiden victory at Newmarket's July meeting, with a striking performance in the Solario Stakes (G3). That early talent came to full fruition at 3, when he was crowned champion 3-year-old with a series of victories in the Craven Stakes (G3) and the Irish Two Thousand Guineas (G1). The defining performance came in the St James's Palace Stakes (G1), when he dominated the French Two Thousand Guineas (G1) winner Henri Matisse and conclusively reversed form with Two Thousand Guineas winner Ruling Court, earning him an OR 126 and TFR 132p, equaling Kingman 's rating for the race.

His trainer, John Gosden, said: "Field of Gold combined speed, looks, and class in bountiful measure. He possessed incredible acceleration and a superb action, which he demonstrated in the St James's Palace Stakes. A very powerful and well-balanced colt with a great
temperament".

Field of Gold will now stand alongside his sire Kingman at Juddmonte, where he begins the next chapter as one of the most highly regarded stallion prospects in Europe.
