Tommy Jo, Iron Orchard Return in Victory Ride

A pair of the top juvenile fillies from 2025 will line up over 6 1/2 furlongs against several rising 3-year-old sprinters July 10 at Saratoga Race Course, making the $225,000 Victory Ride Stakes (G3) a good indicator on where they stand ahead of the Aug. 8 Test Stakes (G1). Grade 1 winners Tommy Jo and Iron Ochard, both 2-for-2 at Saratoga last summer, are making their first starts of the year while cutting back to one turn after being unsuccessful in the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Returning to one turn should be a good starting point for both of them, as that is where they did their best work in 2025. Tommy Jo, a Spendthrift Farm homebred Into Mischief filly, has breezed seven times since returning to the worktab for Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher in mid-May. Iron Orchard, purchased by KatieRich Stables for $2.5 million at the 2025 Fasig-Tipton Mid-October Digital Sale, has joined Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen's barn this year after being trained by Danny Gargan last year. The Authentic filly worked seven times from mid-March to May 1 before being sidelined from the worktab until June 6. She has four works over the past month, with the most recent coming June 30. Asmussen and Spendthrift are opposed with their grade 1-winning representatives, but unite with Goodall. The Yaupon filly enters off a sharp 2 3/4-length victory over returning rivals Carmel Coast and Mythical in the June 4 Jersey Girl Stakes at the Spa, and looks prime to get a similar pace-pressing setup from post 10 under Flavien Prat. The Estate of Brereton Jones' Peach Tie has been firing off wins this year, most recently in last-to-first fashion in the Miss Preakness Stakes (G3) May 15 at Laurel Park. The Brittany Russell-trained daughter of Preservationist is unbeaten in six dirt sprints. Grade 2 winner A Fine Chardonnay and graded-placed stakes winners Sneaky Good and Tessellate add extra intrigue to the field.
