The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) will host its Pedigree and Conformation Clinic on October 19, 2026, at Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Kentucky. The one-day educational program is designed to provide Thoroughbred owners, breeders, and racing enthusiasts with in-depth knowledge of pedigree analysis, conformation evaluation, bloodstock selection, and the public auction process.
This marks the second TOBA Pedigree and Conformation Clinic of 2026. Earlier this year, TOBA's clinic at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company (OBS) in Ocala, Florida, sold out, underscoring the growing demand for hands-on educational opportunities focused on
Thoroughbred ownership and breeding.
The clinic will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on October 19 at Fasig-Tipton, coinciding with the opening day of the Fasig-Tipton Fall Yearling Sale, which begins at 10:00 a.m. The schedule allows participants to take advantage of both the educational programming and the excitement of one of the industry's premier yearling sales.
Because of its popularity and interactive format, registration for the Lexington clinic is limited to 45 participants, allowing attendees direct access to the presenters and ample opportunities for discussion and hands-on learning. Early registration is encouraged, as previous clinics have reached capacity.
The clinic brings together trusted industry experts to offer participants a comprehensive look at the factors that influence Thoroughbred performance and value. Attendees will gain practical insights into evaluating horses for purchase and breeding, understanding veterinary
considerations at public auction, preparing yearlings for the sales ring, utilizing modern genetic and pedigree analysis tools, and making informed bloodstock decisions.
The day's agenda features presentations and discussions led by Dr. Bart Barber of Rood And Riddle Equine Hospital, Conrad Bandoroff of Denali Stud, Alex Solis of Solis/Litt Bloodstock, Anna Seitz Ciannello of Fasig-Tipton, Byron Rogers of Stable Analytics, Anthony Koch of Hallway Feeds, and Tim Leith of The Jockey Club Information Systems. Sessions will cover topics ranging from the veterinarian's role at public auction and yearling preparation to genetics, nicking, equine nutrition, pedigree research resources, and the auction process.
Throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to learn both in classroom settings and in the sales barns, providing a practical and immersive educational experience. The clinic is designed to benefit newcomers seeking a foundation in Thoroughbred ownership and breeding, as well as experienced owners and breeders looking to enhance their evaluation and decision-making skills.
