Tokyo Derby Winner Finger Prepares for U.S. Trip

M's Racing's Finger (JPN), an intended runner for Aug. 22 Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, entered Aug. 7 into the quarantine stable at Miho Training Center. He stays there for seven days prior to shipping to the United States. He leaves Narita Airport Aug. 14. Finger, trained by Hiroyasu Tanaka, is the first foal out of Estilo Talentoso, who started 17 times and won three of them, including the 2021 Bed o' Roses Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park for trainer Juan Arriagada. In addition, the daughter of Maclean's Music finished second in the 2021 Madison Stakes (G1) at Keeneland and third in the 2021 Derby City Distaff Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs. Estilo Talentoso was offered in the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment at Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale in 2021 and bought by JS Company for $600,000. Estilo Talentoso stayed in Kentucky and became in foal to Gun Runner the following year. She was shipped to Japan and foaled a colt by Gun Runner at Takahashi Farm Feb. 18, 2023. Finger is the winner of the April 29 listed Haneda Hai and June10 listed Tokyo Derby, the first and second legs of the Japan Dirt Triple Crown for 3-year-olds at Oi Racecourse. Keita Tosaki, the regular rider for the colt, is booked for the race at Del Mar. Tanaka plans to ship Finger to Keeneland, having the Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) in his sights, provided Finger runs well in the Pacific Classic.
