Antonucci, Baffert Added to HISA Advisory Board

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority is pleased to announce the addition of Thoroughbred horsemen Jena Antonucci, Bob Baffert, and returning member Timothy Keefe to its Horsemen's Advisory Group. Formed in 2022, this body of racing industry participants provides HISA's executive team and standing committees with formal feedback on the evolution of its Racetrack Safety Program and Anti-Doping and Medication Control Program. Its new members succeed outgoing Horsemen's Advisory Group members Kelsey Danner, Gavin Murphy, and Jonathan Sadler. "We are deeply grateful to Kelsey Danner, Gavin Murphy, and Jonathan Sadler for their service and thoughtful contributions to HISA's work," said HISA CEO Lisa Lazarus. "Their expertise and commitment have helped strengthen our efforts to advance safety and integrity across Thoroughbred racing. We are also pleased to welcome our new members to the Advisory Group and look forward to the perspectives they will bring as we continue working collaboratively with stakeholders to enhance the sport for horses and participants alike." The Horsemen's Advisory Group has 18 members with a wide variety of viewpoints from across the racing industry. Its membership includes trainers, owners, bloodstock agents, horsemen's group representatives, and veterinarians. The full list of Horsemen's Advisory Group members can be found here, with more information about each of the new members available below. Antonucci is a trainer and lifelong equestrian, and the first woman in history to win a Triple Crown race, earning that distinction with Arcangelo's victory in the 2023 Belmont Stakes (G1). In addition to operating a successful racing stable, Antonucci serves on the board of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association and the New York Jockey Injury Compensation Fund. Antonucci, along with Katie Miranda, co-founded horseOlogy, a women-owned full-service Thoroughbred training and ownership organization based in Ocala, Fla., along with horseOlogy Encore, a nonprofit dedicated to Thoroughbred aftercare. Baffert is a Hall of Fame Thoroughbred trainer and one of the most accomplished figures in American horse racing. Based in California, Baffert has trained numerous champions, including Triple Crown winners American Pharoah and Justify, and has earned a record-setting number of victories in the sport's most prestigious races, including six Kentucky Derbies (G1), eight Preakness Stakes (G1), three Belmont Stakes and 21 Breeders' Cup World Championships races. Inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2009, he is a multiple Eclipse Award-winning trainer whose career spans more than four decades and thousands of victories at the highest level of competition. Keefe is a longtime Maryland-based Thoroughbred trainer and former president of the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, where he now serves as vice president. A member of the MTHA board since 2005, Keefe has been a leading advocate for Maryland racing, helping shape major industry initiatives, including the redevelopment of the state's racing infrastructure. He has trained multiple stakes winners and serves on the boards of the Maryland Horsemen's Assistance Fund and Maryland Million.
