Untapable Setting Up a Top Freshman Sires Showdown

The $750,000 Untapable Stakes at Kentucky Downs will be a contest between the top-ranked North American freshman sires. Leading freshman sire Golden Pal, who stands at Ashford Stud, will be represented by three starters Aug 30 in the 6 1/2-furlong turf test. WinStar Farm's second-ranked freshman Life Is Good, meanwhile, is the sire of the 4-1 slight morning-line favorite Waggley, who is undefeated in three starts. Golden Pal sired 9-2 morning-line second choice Seneca Park, a filly owned by Holy Cow Stable and trained by Dallas Stewart. She has already proven herself on the grass with a debut win by 4 lengths in a 5 1/2-furlong race at Ellis Park that she captured in near gate-to-wire fashion in 1:01.84. Party Mix and Just Peachy are the other Golden Pal starters. Party Mix won her debut in a 5-furlong maiden special weight on the grass for owner Ken Ramsey and trainer Nolan Ramsey. Just Peachy has been second in two career starts so far for trainer Rodolphe Brisset and owners Storyteller Racing, Storyteller Thoroughbreds, Union Park Thoroughbreds, and Michael Schroeck. Waggley has three wins at three different tracks and is a two-time stakes winner with victories in the Kentucky Juvenile Stakes and Prairie Gold Juvenile Stakes. She is trained by Wesley Ward and owned by Ten Broeck Farm. The Untapable Stakes will be her first start on grass. She has been cross-entered in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint Stakes, but Ward is leaning toward the Untapable.
