Mashallah Ready to Step Up in Prioress at Saratoga

JR Ranch's Mashallah appears well poised to win her first graded stakes in the Sept. 6 Prioress Stakes (G3), a 6-furlong, main-track sprint at Saratoga Race Course. The field of six entered in the race for 3-year-old fillies, however, also appears capable of producing some surprises. Mashallah, a $1.25 million purchase at the 2025 Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, comes into the Prioress in sharp form. The Maxfield filly has won three of four career starts and won her last two races by a combined 12 1/2 lengths for trainer Brendan Walsh, including the Tyson Gilpin Stakes at Colonial Downs. The 7-5 morning-line favorite will be ridden by Manny Franco. Also seeking her first graded win is 8-5 second choice Goodall, a daughter of Yaupon raced by Spendthrift Farm. Since winning the June 4 Jersey Girl Stakes, Goodall placed in the Victory Ride Stakes (G3) and Test Stakes (G1). She was third in the Test behind multiple graded stakes winner Explora and grade 1 winner Percy's Bar. Goodall is trained by Steve Asmussen and will be ridden by John Velazquez. Other viable contenders include Godolphin homebred Hen Party, a multiple graded-placed stakes winner trained by Eoin Harty. The daughter of leading sire Into Mischief has only been out of the money once in six career starts. She won the Serena's Song Stakes on Turfway Park's all-weather surface and then placed in two grade 3s on turf. She makes her first dirt start with jockey Dylan Davis.
