German Derby Runner-Up Chiefland Among Arc Sale Entries

This year's Deutsches Derby (German Derby, G1) runner-up Chiefland (IRE) headlines the initial entries for Arqana's Arc Sale next month. Taking place at Saint-Cloud Racecourse after the opening day of ParisLongchamp Racecourse's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) meeting Oct. 3, the catalog is made up of 34 lots, including classic performers and stakes winners. The Henk Grewe-trained Chiefland ran out a ready winner of a listed Derby Trial in May at Dusseldorf Racecourse before finishing a length second in the German classic in July at Hamburg-Horn Racecourse. The Study of Man (IRE) colt was last seen finishing fourth in last weekend's Prix Niel (G2) at ParisLongchamp Racecourse. One place behind Chiefland in the German classic was Salitos (IRE), a consistent son of In Swoop (IRE), who also finished a neck third in the Derby Italiano (G2). Two-year-old Ghaiyyath (IRE) filly Golden Savior, who has won her last two starts, including a listed event last week at Craon Racecouse for Nicolas Clement and Frauke Hermans, will also come under the hammer. The filly is out of a half sister to Golden Horn (GB) and hails from the top-class family of Rebecca Sharp. Fellow stakes scorer Mirik (FR), last seen finishing third in group company at ParisLongchamp Racecourse, will be offered by the Aga Khan Studs. The Kameko gelding has won on the all-weather and turf for Francis-Henri Graffard. Wertheimer homebred Proof (FR) landed listed success in the Prix Pelleas in July at Compiegne Racecourse, having finished third to Pierre Bonnard (IRE) in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud (G1) last October. Trained by Christopher Head, the Dubawi (IRE) half brother to four black-type performers was recently an unlucky second in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano (G2) at Deauville Racecourse.
