Zimmerman to Receive Jane Goldstein Leadership Award

Amy Zimmerman, a well-respected sports TV producer, director, writer, and network executive whose career spans decades in the horse racing industry, will receive the Jane Goldstein Exemplary Leadership Award at the Horse Racing Women's Association's fourth annual Conference, Oct. 12-14, in Lexington, Kentucky. A member of the Santa Anita Park staff since 1986, Zimmerman worked her way up through the ranks of various broadcasting and management roles prior to assuming her current role as the Senior Vice President and Executive Producer. She has also worked extensively with NBC Sports on horse racing coverage since 1988, including coverage of the Breeders' Cup and Triple Crown races. Outside of horse racing, Zimmerman has produced numerous other sporting events including seven Summer and Winter Olympics for NBC. Zimmerman was also the founding network executive producer for HRTV, the 24-hour horse racing television network launched in 2002. She served as the Executive Producer and Senior Vice President of Production and Programming until the 2015 sale of HRTV to TVG. "Jane Goldstein is one of the most important people in my life. She's been an idol, a boss, a mentor and, more importantly, for more than 40 years, a treasured friend," said Zimmerman. "While I'm not sure I deserve an award named after her, it is a humbling honor to be mentioned alongside the amazing women the Horse Racing Women's Association has recognized previously." In recognition of her hard work and dedication to the sport, Zimmerman has been honored with every major award associated with television and horse racing including 32 Eclipse Awards as executive producer, producer, co-producer or associate producer; four Sports Emmys; 12 Regional Emmys as a producer and/or writer for original productions; and four International Simulcast awards. "Nothing could please me more than knowing Amy Zimmerman is being honored with this award. Our paths were similar, starting by loving horses, then finding the thrill of horse racing, and working our way into jobs in the sport. Now, she collaborates with people at all levels while keeping the wellbeing of horses uppermost," said Goldstein, the award's namesake. "The fact that she has been on Santa Anita Park's staff 40 years is a reflection of her value to the prestigious racetrack and racing overall. During these decades she has lent her talents for stints in television elsewhere, too, proving her widespread recognition. This award just underscores her success."
