Fasig-Tipton Eastern Fall Yearlings Catalog Now Online

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 239 entries for its Eastern Fall Yearlings Sale, to be held Oct. 27, beginning at 11 a.m. ET. The auction will be conducted at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Md. Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept supplemental entries up until sale time. The venerable auction, which has been held under the name Midlantic Fall Yearlings since 2012, is returning to its former name of Eastern Fall Yearlings to accompany a new format focused on promoting the Eastern region and the several state-bred and state-certified programs that make the area so unique. "We have restructured the sale with the goal of showcasing the racing-rich Eastern region and the remarkable opportunities it offers," said Paget Bennett, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic director of sales. "There is so much positive momentum in the region—a new racetrack now open at Belmont and soon Pimlico, as well as a growing racing program at Colonial that complements other successful programs in neighboring states. We feel the timing is appropriate to rebrand this sale to bring similar freshness and excitement to the region's major yearling auction." The catalog is organized to provide each of the region's state-bred programs with its own dedicated section. It begins with yearlings bred in non-Eastern states (Kentucky, Florida, Canada, etc.) before moving through individual sections of yearlings bred in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Each state-bred section is prefaced by introductory pages that provide a snapshot of its breeding and racing incentives. Informational pages for the Delaware-certified, Virginia-certified, and West Virginia-certified programs, as well as Maryland Million, are also included. "We're pleased with the catalog, which has grown slightly in numbers over last year and offers strong sire power," commented Bennett. "This sale is also being held three weeks later than its traditional date, on the Tuesday following Maryland Million Day at nearby Laurel Park, tying the auction to one of the region's most popular racing days. It also gives yearling buyers an opportunity to shop later into the season than usual." A longtime source of quality runners both locally and nationally; graded stakes-winning graduates from Eastern Fall sale include Crazy Mason, Grammy Girl, Kappa Kappa, and Trendsetter. The catalog may be viewed online and will also be available via the Equineline Sales Catalogue app. Print catalogs are now available from Fasig-Tipton offices. Fasig-Tipton has also set the dates for the 2027 Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, which will be held May 24-25 in Timonium, Md., following the Preakness Stakes (G1). The under-tack show will be conducted May 18-20.
