Imagination Retired to Stud at Mountain View Farm

Multiple graded stakes-winning millionaire Imagination has been retired and is settling in at Mountain View Farm in New York, where he'll begin his stud career next year, the farm announced Oct. 1. The 5-year-old son of multiple leading sire Into Mischief is a grade 1-placed, three-time graded stakes winner, whose top victories came in this year's Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G2), the 2025 Santa Anita Sprint Championship Stakes (G2), and the 2024 San Felipe Stakes (G2). He also ran second in the 2025 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) and the 2024 Santa Anita Derby (G1). Trained by Bob Baffert, Imagination retires with 4-6-2 record from 18 starts and $2,218,150 in earnings. "He has everything breeders look for: an exceptional pedigree, tremendous ability, versatility, durability, and elite performances against some of the best horses in the world," Mountain View Farm co-owner David Cannizzo said when the stud deal was announced this summer. "Bringing a horse of this caliber to Mountain View Farm gives New York breeders access to a truly national-level stallion." Peter Blum bred Imagination out of the grade 2 winner Magical Feeling (by Empire Maker), who is also the dam of multiple grade 1-placed grade 3 winner Occult (a full sister to Imagination), and stakes winners Exulting and Magical. Agent Donato Lanni bought Imagination as a yearling for $1.05 million at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for SF Racing, Starlight Racing, and Madaket Stables. He raced for those owners and other partners. An introductory stud fee will be announced at a later date.
