Daryz to Stand in Ireland at Gilltown Stud
Dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) winner Daryz (FR) is set to be an exciting addition to the Irish stallion ranks, with the Aga Khan Studs announcing he will stand alongside his sire Sea The Stars (IRE) at Gilltown Stud next year rather than at their French base, Haras de Bonneval, as part of a reshuffle of the European roster. The brilliant colt was retired shortly after his second straight Arc win earlier this month at Longchamp. A press release from the Aga Khan Studs said: "The winner of four group 1 races from nine to 12 furlongs and renowned for his dazzling turn of foot, Daryz hails from one of the most distinguished families in the stud book and will be an exciting addition to the stallion ranks in Ireland." The fees for all eight stallions representing the operation in 2027 will be announced in due course, but Gilltown's population will rise up to three as group-winning miler Erevann (FR) will relocate there from Bonneval, where he covered full books in each of his first four years at stud. "The move offers Irish breeders access to this impeccably bred son of Dubawi and Siyouni's triple group 1-winning daughter Ervedya, who is also related to 2026 group 1 winner Erdenali," the press release read. Bonneval, already home to sires Siyouni (FR), Zarak (FR), and Vadeni (FR), will welcome two new recruits in Rayif (IRE) and Samangan (IRE). Rayif won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Prix Jacques Le Marois (both G1) and was last seen finishing a close third behind Talk of New York (GB) in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot last weekend. Smart sprinter Samangan won two group stakes as a juvenile and returned at 3 to take the Prix Maurice de Gheest (G1) this summer. Of Rayif, the statement continued: "This grandson of Sea The Stars combines elite ability over a mile with an appealing speed pedigree, and is a half brother to group 1-placed sprinter Rayevka. Samangan is the fastest and most precocious colt produced by the Aga Khan Studs since Siyouni. His pedigree is pure speed, being a son of Blue Point out of an Oasis Dream mare from the family of Classic heroine Sarafina."
