Hazelton Takes Full-Time Position with Keeneland
Keeneland announced Oct. 20 that respected racing broadcaster and industry professional Scott Hazelton will join its team full time in January, expanding his work across the organization's marketing, content and customer engagement initiatives, with a focus on racing and sales. A familiar voice to Keeneland audiences since 2019, Hazelton has served as co-host of "Today at Keeneland," provided Paddock analysis during the Spring and Fall Meets and served as a U.S. representative and announcer for Keeneland sales. In his expanded role, Hazleton will draw on his extensive industry knowledge, broadcasting experience and relationships to support Keeneland's year-round marketing strategy, content development and engagement with fans and customers. "Scott has been an important part of the Keeneland family for many years, and we're delighted to welcome him to our team full time," Keeneland President and CEO Shannon Arvin said. "We look forward to building on his experience and contributions, creating new opportunities to tell Keeneland's stories and strengthen our connections with customers and fans." Beyond broadcasting, Hazelton will work in collaboration with Keeneland's marketing, racing and sales teams on initiatives that strengthen customer relationships, support sales development and advance fan education and wagering engagement. He will also contribute to the development of broadcast and content showcasing Keeneland's racing and sales offerings and supporting the organization's broader marketing objectives. "Keeneland has changed my life in so many positive ways, it's difficult to put into words," Hazelton said. "Being surrounded by the knowledge and experience of so many people across the Thoroughbred industry has made these some of the best years of my career. I look forward to making that experience year-round and continuing to grow alongside the Keeneland family. I'm equally excited to bring my own family into such a special community that is committed to making our industry the best it can be." Hazelton brings more than two decades of experience in Thoroughbred racing and broadcasting. He began his television career in 2004 with Horse Racing Television (HRTV) before joining TVG, now FanDuel TV, where he established himself as a respected racing analyst, reporter and on-air personality. His broadcasting career has included coverage of some of the sport's most prestigious events, including the Triple Crown, the Dubai World Cup (G1) and Royal Ascot in England. Hazelton's roots in Thoroughbred racing run deep. The son of longtime trainer Richard Hazelton, who won more than 4,700 races during a career spanning six decades, Hazelton grew up immersed in the sport and gained firsthand experience in racing operations before pursuing a career in broadcasting. He is a graduate of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Hazelton's association with Keeneland began in 2019 as part of an expanded collaboration with TVG when he and Gabby Gaudet were named co-hosts of "Today at Keeneland" and Paddock analysts. His contributions have since expanded to include serving as a sales announcer, supporting Keeneland's sales broadcasts, recruitment initiatives and customer engagement efforts.
