Ransom the Moon Moved to Midwest Equine in Indiana
Multiple grade 1 winner Ransom the Moon, a 14-year-old son of Malibu Moon, has been sold and relocated to Midwest Equine and Veterinary Hospital in Trafalgar, Ind. Ransom the Moon has been standing at Calumet Farm since entering stud in 2019 and was sold recently along with Oxbow to agent William Nicks. Oxbow is standing at Breakway Farm near Dillsboro, Ind., for the 2027 breeding season. Bred and initially raced by Sam-Son Farm, Ransom the Moon was at best an allowance-level winner running route races on the turf and all-weather surfaces at Woodbine. He was sold after 2016 to Agave Racing Stable and Jeffry Wilke, sent to California, and put in the hands of trainer Phil D'Amato. He won his first start at Santa Anita Park going 6 1/2 furlongs by 4 1/4 lengths and in his next start won the Kona Gold Stakes (G2). He went on to win two consecutive editions of the Bing Crosby Stakes (G1) in 2017-18. As a stallion, Ransom the Moon has sired 58 winners that include four black-type winners and seven that are black-type placed. His top performers include seven-time stakes winner Allnight Moonlight, who captured this year's Don Stemmans Memorial Stakes; and, Plate Trial Stakes winner Highwaytothemoon. Ransom the Moon will stand for $2,000 next year. Midwest also stands graded-placed stakes winner Howling Time, by Not This Time, for $3,500; and, a stakes-winning son of Into Mischief named Top Draw, who stands for a private fee.
