Fireinhereyes Becomes Fire At Will's First Winner

New York freshman stallion Fire At Will sired his first winner Oct. 31 at Belmont Park when his daughter Fireinhereyes won her second career start in gate-to-wire fashion by a neck. Adelphi Racing Club and Saratoga Dreams Racing own the New York-bred who agent Joseph Migliore bought for $77,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale out of the Grassroots Training and Sales consignment. David McKathan and Jody Mihalic's Grassroots farm near Ocala, Fla., also bred Fireinhereyes out of the Race Day daughter Mycrazyxgirlfriend, who is also the dam of stakes-placed winner B Thedonald (Girvin). Grassroots bought the mare in foal to Girvin for $17,000 during the 2023 Ocala Breeders' Sales Winter Mixed Sale. With trainer Horacio De Paz, Fireinhereyes finished fifth in her racing debut Oct. 3 at Belmont where she never got into the race. In her first win, jockey Vincent Cheminaud fired early out of the gate in :22.27, :45.74, and 1:10.84. She stopped the timer in 1:17.52 for the 6 1/2 furlongs on the fast main track and paid $10.08 to win. Fire At Will is an 8-year-old grade 1 winner by Declaration of War. Racing for Three Diamonds Farm, he won the 2020 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T), Pilgrim Stakes (G2T), and With Anticipation Stakes. He retired with three wins out of six career starts and earned $675,932. The stallion will stand the 2027 season at Mountain View Farm in New York for $2,500.
