Too Darn Hot Filly Heads Final Day at Goffs Sale

A well-related Too Darn Hot (GB) filly consigned by Derrinstown Stud topped the third and final day of the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale Nov. 4, selling to Charles Shanahan for €90,000 (US$100,701, €1=US$1.12). The three days of trade delivered strong returns, with 463 of the 544 lots offered selling at a clearance rate of 85%. The turnover returned at €5,415,500 (US$6,059,403), an impressive rise of 16% year-on-year. The average climbed 14% to €11,697 (US$13,088), while the median improved 8% to €6,500 (US$7,273). The session-topping filly is out of the high-class Enbihaar (IRE), a daughter of Redoute's Choice whose five group 2 scores for John Gosden and Shadwell included two successive wins in the 2019-20 Lillie Langtry Stakes (G2) at Goodwood Racecourse. She was also group 1-placed when third to Anapurna (GB) in the 2019 Prix de Royallieu (G1) at ParisLongchamp Racecourse. On future plans, Shanahan said: "She's for a client in England. She looks a sharp, fast 2-year-old and the mare could run, she had a lot of ability. She's by the right stallion and it's always nice to buy a nice horse out of Derrinstown, they do a great job. "She'll go into training in Ireland, she won't be for breezing, and hopefully we'll see her early next year. There's lots of potential, there's loads happening in the family and there's a lot to run. She'll make a lovely broodmare in the future and that's what this man wants." The 11-year-old Enbihaar is the dam of winning Kingman (GB) filly El Budoor. She has an unraced 2-year-old filly by Baaeed (GB) named El Bedayaat and a filly foal by Dubawi (IRE). Enbihaar was bought by Shadwell for €500,000 at the 2016 Arqana August Yearling Sale and she won seven of her 12 starts for earnings of just over £500,000. End of Sale Statement Group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Following a second consecutive year of record-breaking results at Orby Book 1 and Orby Book 2, the positivity has continued with another fantastic edition of the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale that has built on the big gains recorded 12 months ago. "A clearance rate of 85% is noteworthy at any sale and the last three days has seen nearly four times as many yearlings making €50,000 or over compared to last year which has contributed to double-digit gains for turnover and average, as well as an 8% rise in median. "While Orby grabs the headlines, this sale is just as important to those vendors who sell here, and we certainly view it with as much significance as we work to repay the trust placed in the Goffs service. As in September, we recognize that vendors have options, so we value every entry that is made and work alongside Irish Thoroughbred Marketing to deliver the best prices possible."
