Woodbine Entertainment is proud to continue its longstanding support of LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society with an annual $20,000 donation to the local equine aftercare organization.
The contribution will be recognized during LongRun Day at The Races this Saturday (November 7) with a check presentation following the afternoon's fifth race.
A Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)-accredited organization, LongRun provides retired racehorses with the care, rehabilitation and support needed to transition into new careers and loving adoptive homes.
"LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society relies on the generosity of our community and the dedication of our passionate volunteers," said Vicki Pappas, Chairperson of LongRun. "We are honored to help these remarkable Thoroughbreds find forever homes and are grateful for the continued support of Woodbine Entertainment, whose partnership helps make our mission possible."
Supporting racehorse aftercare is a cornerstone of Woodbine's ongoing commitment to equine welfare. The annual $20,000 donation will help LongRun continue its important work, ensuring retired Thoroughbreds receive the attention and opportunities they deserve beyond the racetrack.
"The care and well-being of Thoroughbreds extends far beyond their time on the racetrack, and supporting their next chapter is an important part of our responsibility to the sport," said Michael Copeland, CEO of Woodbine Entertainment. "We are proud of our longstanding partnership with LongRun and grateful for their dedicated team who give these incredible horses a second chapter."
As part of the day's celebrations, LongRun representatives will be on hand at Woodbine from 12--3 p.m. Visitors are invited to stop by the second floor of the grandstand to meet the team, purchase merchandise, and receive a complimentary copy of the 2026 LongRun Graduate Calendar. Fans can also meet retired legendary jockeys Robert Landry, Robin Platts, Gerry Olguin, Richard Dos Ramos and Larry Attard.
