Journeyman Stud's five-time graded stakes winner Mr. Money sired his first reported foal when a bay filly out of the Quality Road mare Road to Riches was born Jan. 20.
"We're excited to see Mr. Money's first foals," said Brent Fernung, owner of Journeyman Stud. "Mr. Money is a handsome horse, and I fully expect that he'll pass that along to his foals. With his talent and pedigree, we're anticipating great things from Mr. Money's progeny."
The filly is the first foal out of Road to Riches, who was bred by Katharine Brady Sutphin.
Mr. Money, a 6-year-old son of Goldencents out of the Tiznow winner Plenty O' Toole, had his strongest campaign at 3 when he won four consecutive stakes by more than 20 lengths. His streak started with a 5 1/4-length win in the Pat Day Mile Stakes Presented by LG&E and KU (G3). He continued with a 6 1/2-length victory in the Matt Winn Stakes (G3), a 2 1/2-length win in the Indiana Derby (G3), and then a six-length win in West Virginia Derby (G3). He just missed winning a grade 1 with a neck loss to Math Wizard in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1), in which he beat Preakness Stakes (G1) winner War of Will . Mr. Money won six of 18 starts and earned $1,360,430.
Mr. Money stands this year for an advertised fee of $4,000.
