Freshman sire and expatriate Prospect Park sired his first winner when his gelded son Little J P won his racing debut in a two-furlong maiden special weight May 23 at Parx Racing.
Little J P is a Pennsylvania homebred for John Parker, who bred the winner out of the In Excess (IRE) mare Dances On Water. The gelding is a half brother to 2017 Longacres Mile Handicap (G3) winner Gold Rush Dancer , a California-bred who also raced as a homebred for Parker.
Parker bought Dances On Water at the 2012 Barretts January Mixed Sale for $1,000. Trainer Vann Belvoir signed the ticket on the mare consigned by Sam Hendricks. The mare has since produced five winners from as many starters that have collectively earned $743,960. Gold Rush Dancer alone won five stakes and earned $552,348. Dances On Water has a yearling filly by Hoppertunity and was expecting a foal this year by Warrior's Reward.
Prospect Park is a multiple grade 2-placed, grade 3 winner by Tapit and a homebred for Pam and Marty Wygod. PVNC Stables purchased the horse after he retired from racing with $539,770 in earnings, and he entered stud at Harris Farms in California. The owner of the stallion later died, and Prospect Park was sold to a farm in Turkey, where he has stood since 2021, according to Harris Farms.
