Bradley Allen "Brad" Kimbrell, who worked for more than 26 years with The Jockey Club before retiring from his position as president of InCompass Solutions Jan. 1, 2020, died Sept. 19 in Lexington. He was 62.

Kimbrell, a native of Shreveport, La., born July 4, 1960, joined the racetrack software company McKinnie Systems in 1982 and then relocated to Lexington when The Jockey Club purchased the company in 1994. The company was renamed InCompass in 2001 as part of a corporate reorganization. Kimbrell was promoted to president of InCompass in 2009 and was instrumental in moving the new company forward in centralizing software applications used by every major racing association and simulcast outlet in North America.

Upon Kimbrell's retirement, The Jockey Club president and COO Jim Gagliano noted: "Since joining The Jockey Club in 1994, Brad has been a tireless and highly effective leader who pioneered the automation of the racing office and horsemen's bookkeeper function. The software created and maintained by Brad and his team has been an indispensable part of the multi-billion-dollar racing and wagering businesses in North America and abroad."

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington.
