Logical Song became Indiana freshman sire Speightsong's first winner when he captured a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight in his second career start Sept. 25 at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Dr. Phillip Gilson bred the gelding in Indiana out of multiple stakes winner Higher Logic (High Fly), who is out of multiple Ohio stakes winner Reason to Rhyme. Logical Song is also the first winner for his dam.

Logical Song is raced by Bone Doctors Stable and trained by Aaron West. After going unplaced in his racing debut Sept. 4, the gelding regrouped and with a more aggressive ride captured his first win by half a length in 1:07.32. He was ridden by Santo Sanjur.

Speightsong is a 13-year-old son of the late sire and 2004 champion sprinter Speightstown. Racing as a homebred for Sam-Son Farm, he won at 2 and became a stakes winner at 3 in the Queenston Stakes at Woodbine. He went on to place in three other black-type stakes, getting a second in the Colonel Power Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots and thirds in the Achievement Stakes and Chesapeake Stakes, both at Woodbine.

Speightsong is out of the Seeking the Gold Winner Song of the Lark, making him a half brother to 2013 Canadian Horse of the Year Up With the Birds.

Midwest Equine & Veterinary Hospital in Indiana stands Speightsong for a private fee.
