Rogue Legend will sport the colors of John Stewart’s Resolute Racing at Royal Ascot later this month after the talented 2-year-old son of Havana Grey was bought from the Rogues Gallery Partnership for an undisclosed sum.

The Paddy Twomey-trained sprinter has won two of his three starts and was particularly impressive on his most recent run at Tipperary Racecourse May 27, where he gave weight away to all his rivals and still won at his leisure. Racing five furlongs over yielding turf, he drew off by 3 1/4 lengths.

The Rogues Gallery founder, Tony Elliott, told the Nick Luck Daily Podcast: “All I can say is that he is sold to John Stewart of Resolute Racing, an American owner, for a hell of a lot of money. We can’t disclose the figure but it was more than you can imagine.

“It's a decision that we don't make very easily but, at the end of it all, the decision is down to me. When they offer so much money it is very difficult to turn it down.

“We have another horse called Rogue Supremacy that won on debut, who we have been offered even more for and we have received a large offer for Rogues Millions."

Elliott added: “We are not in the game of selling horses if we can help it because it is a big syndicate, but John Stewart twisted our arm for a very large amount of money.”

Resolute Racing was founded in 2023 by John Stewart, a founder and managing partner of MiddleGround Capital, a private equity firm. Resolute bought a share of the high-class George Boughey-trained sprinter Believing before she landed the Al Quoz Sprint (G1T) at Meydan Racecourse in April. They also purchased a 75% stake in 2024 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) winner Goliath last year.

Of his newest acquisition, Stewart said: “I was impressed with his recent performance on the track and plan to run him in one of the 2-year-old sprint races at Royal Ascot. We will enter him in all of them and then pick the race.

“With a Timeform rating of 104, he is one of the top 2-year-old sprinters in Europe and I expect him to be very competitive.”

There are four races at Ascot staged for juveniles: the Coventry Stakes (G2), which sports a £175,000 purse, the Norfolk Stakes (G2), the Windsor Castle Stakes, and the Chesham Stakes. The Royal Ascot meeting begins June 17 and runs through June 21.
