John and Thady Gosden were crowned the leading trainers at the Royal Ascot meeting, with their brilliant week headlined by Field of Gold's superstar performance in the June17 St James's Palace Stakes (G1).
The father-and-son combination finished the week with five winners having also scooped the two feature races June 18 and 19, with Ombudsman winning the Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) and Trawlerman landing the Gold Cup (G1).
Aidan O'Brien, who drew a blank in the group 1s, was forced to settle for second despite also saddling five winners, as he came up short on second-placed efforts. His stable jockey Ryan Moore and principal owners Coolmore were the top jockey and co-top owner respectively.
Moore enjoyed successes aboard blistering juveniles Gstaad, True Love, and Charles Darwin, as well as Garden of Eden and Trinity College—Coolmore's five winners—while he also partnered Ethical Diamond and Sober to victory for Willie Mullins. Oisin Murphy was two behind him on five winners.
Wathnan Racing, who had their first runner at the royal meeting just two years ago, landed Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (G1) with Lazzat to tie Coolmore on five winners for the week—losing out on countback.
Ascot celebrated excellent attendance throughout the week, with Saturday's number of 71,073 up 2.6% on last year's 69,291. The overall meeting total of 286,541 was up 4.8% on last year's 273,528.
