Danon Decile, the 2024 Japanese Derby (G1) victor who won Dubai Sheema Classic (G1T) at Meydan Racecourse April 5 defeating European representatives with the highest profile, such as Calandagan and Rebel's Romance, will be shipped from Japan to the United Kingdom Aug. 5 and the connections are eying the Juddmonte International (G1) at York Aug. 20.
Soon after his strong performance in Dubai, the connections started to think about another international summer campaign. Shogo Yasuda who also trains the colt by Epiphaneia, has an impression that Danon Decile performs better at ante-clockwise tracks than at clockwise tracks, he selected the race at York, where the track is ante-clockwise, rather than King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) at Ascot and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) at Longchamp.
Danon Decile will be accommodated at Beech Hurst Stable at Newmarket, where Satono Reve, who finished second in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (G1) at Ascot June 20, stayed for nearly two months earlier this year.
Danon Decile is the fourth Japanese-trained horse to take part in the Juddmonte International. Zenno Rob Roy, was narrowly beaten when he ran second to Electrocutionist in 2005, Cheval Grand finished eighth in 2019, and Durezza finished sixth in 2023.
Japanese jockey Keita Tosaki, who rode Danon Decile at Meydan in April, will ride the son of Epiphaneia at York.
