Jockey Flavien Prat was suspended three days Aug. 4 for careless riding during the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G2T) Aug. 1 at Saratoga Race Course.
The penalty issued by stewards was first reported by Daily Racing Form. The suspension will be served Aug. 13-15.
Prat, aboard Zulu Kingdom, crossed the wire 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Luther, but the stewards ruled that Zulu Kingdom interfered in the first turn that caused Tiz Dashing to bump Luther, who was inside of him, forcing him into the rail. An objection was raised by Luther's jockey, Joel Rosario, which prompted the stewards to disqualify Zulu Kingdom and place him fourth in the field of six.
After the decision was made following the race, Prat explained why he disagreed with the stewards.
"Two horses were battling for the same spot and I got blamed for it," he said.
Zulu Kingdom co-owner Michael Dubb added, "I'm not going to question the judgment of the steward. When we sign up to play the game, we agree to live by the decisions of the stewards. I'm not going to beat anybody up and I won't beat myself up over it."
Prat has 17 wins during the ongoing Saratoga meet, which ranks fourth.
