Dual grade 1 winner Raging Torrent, retired from racing earlier this month, will begin stud duties in 2026 at Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky. A stud fee has not been announced.

The 4-year-old colt's racing career ended due to a suspensory injury in his left foreleg that was discovered in the weeks after his victory in the June 7 Metropolitan Handicap (G1) at Saratoga Race Course.

Raging Torrent posted a record of 7-1-2 over 14 races with $1,797,400 in earnings. He had been in top form, winning three straight races, dating back to the end of last year when trainer Doug O'Neill began focusing him in races between seven furlongs and a mile. He captured the seven-furlong Malibu Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park in December and then began his 2025 campaign by securing a victory in the Godolphin Mile (G2) at Meydan Racecourse. He then defeated Fierceness in the Metropolitan Handicap, a race more commonly known as the Met Mile, leading from start to finish.

"We've had a history of success with Malibu winners standing at Lane's End with the likes of City of Light, Twirling Candy, and The Factor—which played a big role in bringing Raging Torrent here," Lane's End's Bill Farish said in a release. "His ability to stretch his front-running speed to a mile and win a prestigious race like the Met, in addition to his international success, makes him an exciting prospect for breeders."

By Maximus Mischief , a son of Into Mischief , Raging Torrent proved quick, recording a Beyer Speed Figure as high as 106 and Equibase Speed Figure of 119.

Bred by Rodney Winkler and Alfonso Mazzetti out of the Violence  mare Violent Wave, Raging Torrent won at first asking as a juvenile and was graded stakes-placed that year, as well. The next year, he won the Maxfield Overnight Stakes and Pat O'Brien Stakes (G2) during the summer months before his winter triumph in the Malibu. He raced under different ownership during his successful career.

Mark Davis initially bought the colt for $75,000 from the 2023 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training from the Randy Bradshaw consignment. Then he took on partners during the colt's 2-year-old season with Great Friends Stables, headed by former Del Mar executive Craig Dado and sports radio talk show host Scott Kaplan. Later, Davis sold his ownership stake to Yuesheng Zhang of Yulong Investments, making Zhang a partner with Great Friends Stables.

Raging Torrent will be available for inspection at Lane's End beginning with the start of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale Sept. 8-20.
