Delaware Park to Donate to Aftercare Groups, PDJF

Twenty weekend races with deep fields are on tap with purses of $1,163,000.

The best of the best in Delaware racing will be showcased this weekend with the 33rd Owners Day on Saturday and Delaware Thoroughbred Certified Day on Sunday. For the weekend, 20 races with total purses of $1,163,000 and 198 combined entries have been scheduled. First race post time for both days is slated for 12:45 p.m.

On Saturday, some of the people who made lifelong contributions which have made Delaware racing exceptional will be celebrated with the 30th running of the George Rosenberger Memorial, the 21st renewal of the Robert W. Camac Memorial, the fourth running the Rich Glazier Turf Classic, the 28th renewal of the DTHA Governors Day Race and the fourth running of the John Mooney Turf. 

Delaware Park will also pay tribute to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF), Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) and Canter Delaware on Saturday.  

After the running of the ninth race a donation check worth $20,000 will be presented in the winner's circle to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) from Delaware Park Casino, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association (DTHA), the Delaware Jockeys Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and the Delaware Park Jockeys Association.  For more information on the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) or to donate, visit www.pdjf.org.

Horse players will be rewarded with the potential for a big Pick 5 payout.  The second Middle Pick 5, starting in the fifth race, has a $14,767 carryover and the Late Pick 5, starting in the sixth, has a guaranteed payout of $25,000 from the mutuel pool to a single unique ticket winner.  There will also be an Early Pick 5 starting in the first race and a first Middle Pick 5 beginning in the third race. 

On Sunday, the Delaware Thoroughbred Certified Program will take center stage with the 15th running of The Small Wonder Stakes, the 13th renewal of the First State Dash, the 19th running of the New Castle and the 19th renewal of the Tax-Free Shopping Distaff.  

Also Sunday, the second Middle Pick 5 starting in the fifth race, has a guaranteed payout of $25,000 from the mutuel pool to a single unique ticket winner.  There will also be an Early Pick 5 starting in the first race, a first Middle Pick 5 starting in the third race and a Late Pick 5 beginning in the sixth race.  

All Pick 5 wagers have a 50-cent minimum base wager with a 15% takeout.
