Froutien became the first winner for freshman sire Galilean  in taking the first race during the Belmont at the Big A meet Sept. 13.

Never relinquishing the lead after taking charge early in the seven-furlong race under Kendrick Carmouche, Froutien was clocked in 1:24.84 on a fast track in winning by 1 3/4 lengths. The chestnut paid $2.74 to win as the heavy favorite in the field of New York-bred 2-year-olds after a promising third-place finish on debut last month at Saratoga Race Course.

Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher trains Froutien for owner Tagermeen Racing. The colt was bred by Andy and Susan Beadnell out of the Mineshaft mare It's Timeless, and purchased by Tagermeen Racing representative Mahmud Mouni for $700,000 from the Wavertree Stables consignment to the 2025 Midlantic May Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

Galilean, a multiple stakes-winning and graded-placed son of the late Uncle Mo, entered stud in New York in 2022 after winning six of 16 starts and $592,522 for racing owners West Point Thoroughbreds, Denise Barker, and William Sandbrook.

He stood this past breeding season for a $3,500 fee at Questroyal North near Stillwater, N.Y. Besides victorious Froutien, three other 2-year-olds from 10 starters from Galilean's first crop of 41 juveniles have placed.

Galilean was bred in California by Bar C Racing Stables out of the El Prado mare Fresia, a half sister to Ontario Derby (G3) and Seagram Cup Stakes (G3) winner His Race to Win
