The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA) is excited to announce that stakes purses for two of our Louisiana Bred Stakes Days are increasing. Due to the success of our program, the total stakes purses for the Louisiana Champions Day stakes at Fair Grounds in December and Louisiana Premier Night at Delta Downs in February are increasing by a total of $250,000.

The purses for six (6) of the Louisiana Champions Day stakes races at Fair Grounds have increased from $100,000 to $125,000. The Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile, Sprint, Ladies, Sprint, Lassie, Turf, and Ladies Turf will each run for $125,000. The Louisiana Champions Day Classic remains at $150,000. This brings the total purses for Louisiana Bred Stakes on that day from $750,000 to $900,000.

Four of the Louisiana Premier Night stakes at Delta Downs have also been increased from $100,000 to $125,000 each. The Louisiana Premier Night Prince, Starlett, Sprint, and Matron stakes have all been raised from $100,000 to $125,000 each, increasing the total for the day's stakes card to just shy of $1 million. The remaining stakes on the card are the Louisiana Premier Night Championship ($150,000), Distaff ($125,000), Gentlemen Starter ($60,000), Ladies Starter ($60,000), Ragin Cajun Starter ($50,000) and Bon Temps Starter ($50,000) making total purses $995,000.

The Louisiana breeding programs, already one of the most lucrative in the country, continue to give owners and breeders of Louisiana Breds even more opportunities to earn more money.

Take advantage of the opportunity to add your own Louisiana Bred at LTBA's Breeders Sales of Louisiana, Yearling Sale followed by Mixed Session, Sunday, October 12, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
