Diana Stakes (G1T) winner Excellent Truth has been retired after sustaining an injury during training, according to owner John Stewart of Resolute Racing.

The Chad Brown-trained mare recorded four workouts last month at Saratoga Race Course after missing an intended start in the Aug. 16 E. P. Taylor Stakes (G1T) at Woodbine due to a setback. She finishes the year 1-2-0 in three starts, earning $471,250. Before her Diana victory July 12, she ran second in both the June 6 Just a Game Stakes (G1T) at Saratoga and the April 12 Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland

The Diana proved her highlight race, as she grittily turned back She Feels Pretty to notch a head victory under Flavien Prat.

Stewart bought Excellent Truth last year for the equivalent of $1,690,785 from the 2024 Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale. In 11 starts in France before her purchase, she tallied a group 3 victory and became group 1-placed when second in the 2024 Prix Rothschild (G1) at Deauville.

A 5-year-old daughter of Cotai Glory out of the Teofilo mare Moment of Truth, she retires with a career record of 5-5-1 in 14 starts wit earnings of $677,898. Sandra Russell bred her in Ireland.

"She will rest up the remainder of the year on (Resolute Racing) farm before joining the many grade 1-winning mares in her second career" as a broodmare, Stewart posted on the social media platform X.
