Through Oct. 5, Godolphin's dual-group 1 winner Ombudsman remains atop the latest Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings for 2025. The son of Night of Thunder boasts a 128 rating following victories in this year's Juddmonte International (G1) and Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1).
Four horses share the second-highest rating of 127, including Godolphin's U.S.-based Sovereignty, the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner. Sovereingty, unraced since his romp in the Travers Stakes (G1) Aug. 23, will make his next start in the $7 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) Nov. 1 at Del Mar, where he'll square off with one of the horses he's tied with in the ratings, Saudi Cup (G1) winner Forever Young.
Recent Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) hero Daryz was given a 127 rating after defeating Minnie Hauk (123) by a head Oct. 5 at Longchamp. Daryz came into the race having finished second by a short head to Croix du Nord (120) in the Prix du Prince d'Orange (G3). Earlier this season, Daryz won the Prix Eugene Adam (G2).
Minnie Hauk, the highest-rated female on the World's Best Rankings, has enjoyed a stellar campaign this year, capturing the Yorkshire Oaks (G1), Epsom Oaks (G1), and Irish Oaks (G1).
The other horse rated at 127 is Juddmonte's Irish Two Thousand Guineas (G1) and St. James's Palace Stakes (G1) winner Field of Gold.
The second- and third-highest rated U.S.-based horses are champion and recent Pacific Classic (G1) winner Fierceness (125), also slated for the Breeders' Cup Classic, and Pegasus World Cup (G1) winner White Abarrio (124).
