When Shadai Corporation, the management company of stallions standing at Shadai Stallion Station, announced its stallion roster for the 2026 covering season, it was a pleasant surprise that Shahryar had returned to the roster.

Shahryar is the sixth foal out of Dubai Majesty, winner of four graded stakes, including the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), and was bought by Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farm for US$1.1 million at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. Shahryar started 18 races and won 4 of them, including the 2021 Japanese Derby and 2022 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) for Sunday Racing. In addition, the son of Deep Impact finished third in the 2023 and 2024 Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) at Santa Anita Park and Del Mar, respectively.

Though Shahryar retired from racing and started his stud duty at Shadai Stallion Station in 2025, his fertility rate was too low to continue his stud career. Shadai Corporation announced Shahryar would enjoy his pensioned life at Northern Horse Park.

However, as trial covering was carried out during covering season in the Southern Hemisphere, most of the mares he covered became in foal. The veterinarians confirm that his fertility is now on par with other stallions, and Shadai Corporation decided to send him back to the stallion roster for 2026, when Shahryar stands for ¥2,000,000 (approx. US$12,802).
