Frankie Dettori once again treated a bumper crowd to a flying dismount after the legendary rider chalked up another winner on his farewell tour in South America.

After riding Grand Candyman to victory on the first leg of his tour at San Isidro in Buenos Aires last month, Dettori followed up with another winner in Uruguay Jan. 7 courtesy of an impressive front-running display by the Roberto Solanes-trained Soy Poronguero.

The 4-year-old, who was sent off 13-8 favorite, quickened up the home straight to finish well clear of second favorite Tengo Una Sonrisa.

Earlier on the card, Dettori partnered Most Sound to finish eighth of 13 in the 6-furlong maiden, while his other mount Militante filled the same position in race 6 of the 20-race card at the Maronas National Racecourse in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo.

Dettori's final ride on the card came in the Gran Premio Pedro Pineyrua (G3) on Sparco, but he finished a tailed-off second-last. The race was the second in the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series for the Oct. 30-31 Breeders' Cup World Championships.

The concluding part of Dettori's tour comes in Brazil next month, when he heads to Gavea racecourse in Rio de Janeiro for the final rides of his illustrious career. Once his time in the saddle comes to an end, he will take up his new position as global brand ambassador to Amo Racing.
