Sent off as the heavy favorite on a three-race win streak, Godolphin's Knightsbridge took the Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes (G3) by a commanding 11 1/4 lengths Feb. 28 at Gulfstream Park.
The 5-year-old son of Nyquist broke sharply and stalked pacesetting Mika while running in the clear on the outside. He made a three-wide bid on the turn, barely being asked by jockey Junior Alvarado. At the quarter pole, he was well clear of his competition, and kept increasing his margin to the wire with his jockey frozen in the saddle.
The final time of the mile race was 1:35.77 on a fast main track. Steal Sunshine rallied for second, and Flying Liam finished third.
"I think he's the best miler in the country right now. It was almost like a paid workout. He was just much the best. Leaving the half-mile pole, he told me, 'Listen, I'm ready, let's go.' My horse is just better," Alvarado said. "Mr. Mott—he's a Hall of Famer for a reason—if he decides to stretch him out, his pedigree says he probably could be able to make the two turns. But, as of right now, I'm very happy for him being the best miler in the country."
Trained by Bill Mott, the victory marked Knightsbridge's fourth in a row and third consecutive grade 3 victory at Gulfstream. He moves to six wins from eight career starts, and earnings of $503,755. The Godolphin homebred paid $2.40 for the win.
"He ran really well today. He's run three times down here and he's run well every time. It looks like he's done it with authority the last couple times. He looks good," Mott said. "We're pleased to get the wins under his belt in the graded stakes and hopefully there's more to come."

Tiz Dashing scores Canadian Turf Stakes
Tiz Dashing, under jockey Javier Castellano, flew down the stretch to take the 1 1/16-mile Canadian Turf Stakes (G3T).
In his first start as a 4-year-old, the son of Tiz the Law broke midpack and settled off the pace, racing two wide down the backstretch as post-time favorite Wolfie's Dynaghost set fractions of :22.97, :45.97, and 1:08.71. On the far turn Tiz Dashing began to make his move, passing four rivals to gain the lead in upper stretch. He drew off from his competition to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Battle of Normandy was second and Beach Gold third. Wolfie's Dynaghost faded to fifth.
Tiz Dashing ($24.80) completed the 1 1/16 miles on a firm course in 1:38.07.
"My goal today was to get a forward position. Break well from the gate, get good position on the first turn, move up a little and keep track of the pace," Castellano said. "I really liked the way he did it today."
Trained by Barclay Tagg for owner Sackatoga Stable, Tiz Dashing earned his third win in 11 starts for earnings of $406,167.

Lion Lake Upsets Sister Troienne
Largely dismissed at 11-1, Emcee Stable's Lion Lake upset heavily favored Sister Troienne in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3T) at Gulfstream Park.
Stalking the pace along the rail, jockey Tyler Gaffalione tipped Lion Lake two wide at the five-sixteenths pole and unleashed her run. She rallied through the stretch to catch the leader, edging Sister Troienne by a head at the wire. Sister Troienne, who had a five-race win streak snapped with the loss, finished three-quarters of a length ahead of third-place Storm's Wake.
The fractions of the race were :23.58, :47.33, 1:09.78, and 1:20.93, with a final time of 1:32.80 for the mile. Lion Lake paid $24.20 for the win.
A 3-year-old daughter of Dark Angel trained by Brendan Walsh, Lion Lake entered the Herecomesthebride off her first career win, breaking her maiden on her fourth try Jan. 30 at Gulfstream.

Just Basking Takes the Very One Stakes
Just Basking ran down No Show Sammy Jo to take the $150,000 The Very One Stakes (G3T) at odds of 13-1. With Castellano in the irons, Just Basking trailed the field around the first two turns behind pacesetter Gallant Greta, who led into the stretch through fractions of :23.07, :47.32, 1:12.16, 1:35.50, and 1:58.65.
The winning Ian Wilkes trainee angled out early on the backstretch, and around the far turn went four wide. She surged through the final furlong and caught No Show Sammy Jo to win by a half-length at the wire.
The 5-year-old daughter of Arrogate got her first win since 2024, completing the 1 3/8 miles on firm turf in 2:11.31. Owned by Andrew Schwarz and Wendy Schwarz Gilder, she paid $29 for the win.

Lush Lips all class in the honey fox stakes
Lush Lips opened her season in style, taking the Honey Fox Stakes (G3T) for trainer Brendan Walsh and owner Dixiana Farms.
She rated off the pace in fifth as early leader Classic Q traveled well and took that lead into the stretch. Near the quarter pole, under Gaffalione, Lush Lips angled four wide and steadily progressed to run down the leader to win by three-quarters of a length. Classic Q, who set fractions of :23.79, :48.18, and 1:11.12, finished second, and Silver Moonlight was third.
The 4-year-old daughter of Ten Sovereigns finished the mile on the turf in 1:33.71, and paid $5.40 for a $2 win wager.
