A filly (Hip 570) by first-crop sire Jackie's Warrior  was the first juvenile to clock a furlong in :09 3/5 during the under-tack show for the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale April 8. Hip 570 is consigned by Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds, agent.

Hip 570 is out of the graded stakes-winning Indian Charlie mare Brazen Persuasion, who is the dam of six winners from six to race, including stakes-placed Ruggs (Gun Runner ). The filly was bred in Kentucky by Fred W. Hertrich III and John D. Fielding. She was purchased as a yearling for $140,000 by Arleigh Bonnaha out of the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

"We love the pedigree, we love Indian Charlie mares, that means the world to us," said Randy Hartley of Hartley/DeRenzo Thorougbreds. "(The mare) was a graded stakes winner as a 2-year-old, Steve Asmussen trained the mother. When we saw her, we just loved her. She's the easiest horse in the world to train. She just does her business, she's super smart, she carries weight. She did that and just acted like 'OK, whatever.' She can do it so easy. And mentally, she's going to make a great racehorse because nothing bothers her. I didn't even know what she went because I was on the pony, and she galloped out really nice because I had to like grab her when she came to me, she was still running pretty hard. We're just super proud of her. She's done everything the right way.

"We don't have a lot of horses like the other consignors, so we try to do more boutique. I've got some really nice horses here. I had the Practical Joke filly breeze yesterday, and I have a Flightline and a Life Is Good, and both of them should be super nice. I'm already getting calls on the Flightline."

Asmussen trained Brazen Persuasion to her victory in the 2013 Schuylerville Stakes (G3) at Saratoga Race Course, and also trained Hip 570's sire, 2021 champion male sprinter Jackie's Warrior. The son of Maclean's Music  was a grade 1 winner at ages 2-4, becoming the first horse in Saratoga history to win a grade 1 in three consecutive years. Jackie's Warrior stands the 2026 season for $25,000 at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky.

"This filly here, we love Jackie's Warrior, and Steve Asmussen trained the sire and the mother. I knew she was going to be a 9.4 just by the way she moves. I think these horses are actually breezing better without the whipping.

"If I had to keep one, she would be one. She's got a beautiful head, she's got body, she's got muscle. She would be one I would keep if I was able to keep her because she's going to run good and have beautiful babies. We'll just see what happens. She's just a cool horse."

Fourteen horses clocked a furlong in :09 4/5.

Two horses breezed a quarter-mile in :20 3/5, the fastest time for a quarter-mile thus far in the under-tack show. Consignor Tom McCrocklin sent out Hip 525, a colt by 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, out of the Galileo mare Belle De Nuit, who is a daughter of Argentine group 1-winning mare La Belga.

McCrocklin purchased the colt for $50,000 at last year's Keeneland September Sale from the consignment of his breeder, Dixiana Farms.

Ocala Stud sent out Hip 596, a Florida-bred colt by Roadster , to tie for the co-fastest quarter-mile. The colt is out of the group-winning and stakes-producing mare Candy Store (Lope de Vega ). Hip 596 was bred by Speedway Stables, the entity that campaigned grade 1 winner Roadster. Ocala Stud stands the freshman sire in Florida for a $7,500 fee.

The under-tack show continues at 8 a.m. ET April 9, with hips 611-813 slated to hit the track.
