Napoleon Solo took charge on the second turn and went on to victory in the $2 million Preakness Stakes (G1) May 16 at Laurel Park.
The 3-year-old son of Liam's Map earned the victory under jockey Paco Lopez. Trained by Chad Summers and owned by Gold Square, he came into the Preakness off a fifth-place finish in the Wood Memorial Stakes (G2). He won the Champagne Stakes (G1) last year as a juvenile.
Iron Honor finished second, Chip Honcho was third, and Ocelli finished fourth. Napoleon Solo finished the 1 3/16-mile race in a final time of 1:58.69 and paid $17.80 to win.
