Texas owner/breeder Doug Scharbauer will add highly regarded stakes winner Tap Into This to his Valor Farm's stallion roster next year after the Tapit  colt's racing career was prematurely ended by injury.

Trainer Steve Asmussen was aiming the 4-year-old colt for a stakes at Monmouth Park when he sustained a suspensory injury following a morning work, according to Valor Farm's general manager Donny Denton.

"The horse has a lot of talent," Denton said. "He won four of his last five starts and was never out of the money. In his last start, he won The Coach Overnight Stakes at Oaklawn and was being pointed toward a stakes at Monmouth. He had always been sound, and we thought we would get another year with him."

Tap Into This was well regarded as a yearling, selling to Scharbauer for $525,000 during the 2023 Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of Mt. Brilliant Farm's consignment.

Mt. Brilliant and Orrin Ingram bred Tap Into This out of the winning Hard Spun  mare Superioritycomplex, who is the dam of grade 3 winner Extra Anejo (Into Mischief ). Superioritycomplex is out of the Galileo mare Justlookdontouch, who is a half sister to 2003 Eclipse champion grass mare and Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) winner Islington.

Scharbauer intends to support the young stallion with some of the mares he is currently keeping in Kentucky, according to Denton.

"Some of our second-tier mares in Kentucky will be very strong for this horse," Denton said.

Tap Into This is expected to stand for around $3,000-$3,500.
