North American record holder and three-time graded stakes winner Wolfie's Dynaghost has been retired from racing, trainer Brian Lynch said June 25.
A homebred Ghostzapper gelding for Rene and Lauren Woolcott's Woodslane Farm, Wolfie's Dynaghost closed out his 7-year-old campaign Dec. 20 with a historic performance when completing the Fort Lauderdale Stakes (G3T) over Gulfstream Park's turf course in 1:43.42—the fastest 1 1/8 miles ever recorded in North American racing on any surface. That victory came 1 1/2 months after finishing just 0.07 off Churchill Downs' 1 1/8-mile course record in the River City Stakes (G3T).

Wolfie's Dynaghost finished fifth in his 8-year-old debut at Gulfstream, the Feb. 28 Canadian Turf Stakes (G3T). He recorded six works between Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida and Keeneland in Kentucky in preparation for his next start, but an old soft tissue injury redeveloped.
"At this stage of his career, it was just better to let him chill out and enjoy his retirement because he's done plenty," Lynch said.
Lynch reported that the Kentucky-bred and Virginia-certified gelding is now "belly-high in Virginia bluegrass" at the Woolcott's farm. The injury was nothing major, and Lynch said Wolfie's Dynaghos had the perfect temperament to be retrained for another sport or career should the Woolcotts choose to do so.
"He was just an ultimate professional," Lynch said. "He was a lovely horse to be around; really unassuming, you wouldn't even know he was in the barn. But boy, he'd show up on race day for you. He's a beautiful old horse, and I feel very fortunate to have had him for a few starts in his career."
Wolfie's Dynaghost debuted a winner in the fall of 2020 for trainer Thomas Albertrani in his lone start at 2. At 3, he was a two-time winner and finished third in the 2021 Better Talk Now Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. He earned his first two graded placings at 4 and also won the non-black-type Bert Allen Stakes at Colonial Downs.
Switched to Jonathan Thomas' barn for his 5-year-old season, Wolfie's Dynaghost earned his first black type success in March 2023 in Turfway Park's listed Kentucky Cup Classic Stakes and then picked up his first graded win that November in the Autumn Stakes (G2) at Woodbine.
The gelding raced just once at 6 and returned in 2025 at 7, winning the Prince George's County Stakes at Laurel Park for Thomas. He was moved to Lynch's barn in the fall, with the River City being the first of three starts for the trainer.
Out of the unraced Dynaformer mare Dynaire, making him a half brother to multimillionaire Sadler's Joy. Wolfie's Dynaghost was a millionaire himself, earning $1,354,992 in a 33-race career that produced a record of 14-3-5.
