Grade 1 winner and Gainesway freshman sire Drain the Clock  was represented by his first stakes winner Oct. 16 when Drain the Shot earned a maiden-breaking win in the $76,000 Oklahoma Classics Juvenile Stakes at Remington Park.

Ridden by Ramon Vazquez, the 2-year-old dark bay/brown colt raced 2 lengths off the lead after the opening quarter mile before getting into contention and ultimately winning by 1 1/2 lengths. Drain the Shot completed 6 furlongs in 1:11.25.

Drain the Shot was bred in Oklahoma by Amy Marie Bayle and is out of the winning Star Guitar  mare Moment to Dream. He was a $52,000 purchase out of Niall Brennan Stables' consignment at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale by trainer Mike Maker. Through his first two starts, he's already earned back $46,710 for owner David Staudacher.

On the track, Drain the Clock was twice a winner at 2 before entering graded waters at 3. His highlight victory came in the 2021 Woody Stephens Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park, and that season he also added wins in the Swale Stakes (G3) and Bay Shore Stakes (G3), and was runner-up in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) and Amsterdam Stakes (G2).

A son of Maclean's Music , Drain the Clock retired with a record of 7-3-0 from 15 starts for earnings of $698,000 and began his stud career in 2023 at Gainesway, where he stood for a $10,000 fee in 2026.
