Racing at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn., was canceled July 26 due to projected extreme heat during the afternoon. High heat also led to Prairie Meadows adjusting first post time for both Sunday and July 27.

Canterbury's seven-race card was scheduled to begin at 1:10 p.m. CT and continue through 4:38 p.m. CT. A press release from the track said that during that time, the heat index was expected to exceed 105 degrees for a sustained period of time, "creating potentially unsafe conditions for both equine and human athletes as well as outdoor workers and guests."

A pair of $51,500 stakes races were carded Sunday, the Frances Genter Stakes and Victor S. Myers Stakes. They will be added to the Aug. 2 program.

High temperatures are also impacting Altoona, Iowa, where Prairie Meadows is located. The track moved first post time for Sunday's 10-race program from 4:30 p.m. CT to 6:30 p.m. CT. They also moved Monday's first post from 4 p.m. CT to 6 p.m. CT.
