A lifetime breeding right to red-hot young sire Blue Point sold Aug. 24 for €480,000 (US$560,210, €1=US$1.17) to an unnamed buyer on Darley's Winning Bid platform.

This was the second breeding right for the Kildangan Stud resident to be sold this year following a €470,000 purchase last month.

The son of Shamardal has been in sensational form this campaign, his top-class daughter Blue Bolt remaining unbeaten this season with group 1 wins in the Prix Rothschild (G1) and Falmouth Stakes (G1), as well as a group 2 victory at Royal Ascot and a listed win at Goodwood on her first outing.

Blue Point is also responsible for this month's Prix Maurice de Gheest (G1) winner Samangan, while his juvenile son Inner City Blues is 2-for-2 after landing group 2 success in the July Stakes (G2). That colt is currently the favorite for the Middle Park Stakes (G1).

Sam Bullard, director of stallions, said: "It's fantastic to see that our client's faith in Blue Point matches our view that he is one of the best young stallions in Europe. He has had a brilliant year with Blue Bolt, Samangan, Rayevka, and Inner City Blues carrying the flag and things can only get better with the quality of his stock coming through."

Blue Point remained at €100,000 for a second successive year this covering season.
