Japan-based dual grade 1-winning sprinter Satono Reve has been retired from racing and will stand at Shadai Stallion Station in Japan for 2027, trainer Noriyuki Hori announced Sept. 7.
A statement read: "Satono Reve returned to Japan on Sunday, September 6, after a four-month stay in the U.K. He is currently undergoing import quarantine at the JRA Racing School and will be moved to Shadai Stallion Station on Thursday, September 17 to become a breeding stallion.
"Thank you very much for your warm support not only during races in Japan but also during his overseas trips to Hong Kong and the UK. We would appreciate your continued support for his offspring."
The globe-trotting son of Lord Kanaloa claimed two top-level wins in two successive runnings of the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, landing the second of those in this year's renewal at the age of 7.
A durable performer, he competed around the world and against some of the best sprinters around, finishing second to the brilliant Ka Ying Rising in last year's Chairman's Sprint Prize (G10 at Sha Tin and then in this year's race in April. He was also third to the Hong Kong champion in the 2024 Hong Kong Sprint (G1).
Satono Reve was also a familiar name in the UK, competing at Royal Ascot when a half-length second to Lazzat in the 2025 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (G1) and then when edged out by a nose in the same race to subsequent Sprint Cup winner Almeraq this summer. He also finished third in the July Cup (G1) on his following start before ending his career when ninth in the City of York Stakes (G1) to Notable Speech last month.
He won seven of 21 starts, including four graded stakes wins, for total prize-money of $5,862,779.
A half brother to grade 2 winner and grade 1-placed Hakusan Moon and German group 3 winner Warring States, Satono Reve will join his sire on the Shadai roster.
