Pershaada could put herself in line for a trip to the Breeders' Cup with a return to winning ways in the Flying Childers Stakes (G2) Sept. 11 at Doncaster.
The speedy 2-year-old filly was pitched into the Aug. 21 Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) by trainer Richard Hannon and owners Middleham Park Racing after her impressive victory in the Molecomb Stakes (G3) July 29 at Glorious Goodwood, but failed to get involved at York facing older horses.
Connections are now looking for an improved performance from Pershaada when she returns to juvenile company in the 5-furlong contest.
"This is more of a race for her, rather than the hurly-burly of the Nunthorpe, and we go there very hopeful," said Middleham Park's racing manager Tim Palin.
"It's a group 2, so it represents a step up from the Molecomb, but she has faced most of the rivals before, or they're horses of a similar ilk.
"She's all speed and we'd love the rain to stay away because her best form is on rattling ground, although she did win her novice on good. It's good to soft, good in places now and her participation is not in doubt, but drying ground would suit her."
Fillies have proved a force to be reckoned with in the Flying Childers, with Revival Power last year becoming the eighth successful female this century.
If Pershaada, who was fourth in the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) prior to Goodwood, can continue that trend, then the Breeders' Cup could beckon.
"We left her in the Cheveley Park yesterday but that is shaping up to be one of the hottest races of the season and we're only in there in case the race falls apart slightly," said Palin.
"That's over 6 furlongs and we think she's best over 5. We'd like to see her bounce back on Friday, which is not a given because she had a reasonably hard race in the Nunthorpe, and then we could look at the Breeders' Cup.
"The Molecomb was a 'Win and You're In' for Keeneland and she'd go for the Juvenile Turf Sprint, so this would probably be her Breeders' Cup trial. It's an important day in her life."
The Mick Appleby-trained Big Evs won the Flying Childers en route to victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T) in 2023 at Santa Anita Park.
