Grade 2 winner and Pleasant Acres Stallions' Magic On Tap was represented by his first winner Oct. 4 when Caribbean Comet won the ninth race via disqualification at Gulfstream Park.
Caribbean Comet was making his third start Sunday in a maiden optional claiming race for Florida-breds. Calypso Stables and trainer Patrick Biancone did not enter him for a tag in the 1 mile and 70-yard event on Tapeta. With J. G. Torrealba aboard, he closed from mid-pack to finish 1 1/2 lengths behind Souper Handsome, but that rival was disqualified for impeding Strike, third across the wire, and making Samy Camacho take up in late stretch.
The final time was 1:43.42.
Caribbean Comet was bred in Florida by Matalona Thoroughbreds and was purchased for $27,000 by Mark O'Brien from the Abbie Road Farm consignment at the 2025 Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale. He is out of the winning dual stakes-placed English Channel mare Red Rounder, who has produced two winners from her two starters.
A homebred for Summer Wind Equine, Magic On Tap picked up two wins while being in the exacta in each of his four starts. In 2021, he won the Triple Bend Stakes (G2) by 2 lengths at Santa Anita Park. He retired with a career record of 3-2-0 from nine starts for $240,300 in earnings.
Magic On Tap stood the 2026 season at Pleasant Acres near Morriston, Fla., for a $5,000 fee.
