After a second consecutive Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) victory, Aga Khan Studs' Daryz is now third in the latest Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings.
The Francis-Henri Graffard-trained 4-year-old son of Sea The Stars is rated at 128, up two points from his previous mark of 126, after defeating Bay City Roller by 1 1/4 lengths in the Oct. 4 Arc at ParisLongchamp Racecourse. The Arc runner-up improved from 122 to 125 in the ratings.
Hong Kong sprint sensation Ka Ying Rising, scheduled to make his next start Oct. 17 in The Everest (G1) in Australia, remains atop the rankings with a 135 rating, four points clear of second-ranked Ombudsman at 131.
Nysos and Sovereignty are the highest-rated United States-trained horses, tied for seventh at 125. Nysos has been retired to stud, while Sovereignty is pointed toward the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) Oct. 31 at Keeneland. He missed a scheduled start in the Sept. 18 Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park because a foot abscess forced him to miss training in the leadup to the race.
$32.3 million earner Forever Young—also prepping for the Breeders' Cup Classic, a race he won last year at Del Mar—shipped from Japan to the U.S. and scored in workmanlike fashion in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. The Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee rates him at 123, leaving him tied for 21st place.
