It's hard to keep jockey Flavien Prat down for long.
After missing the second half of the Oct. 16 card at Belmont Park in a fourth-race spill that unseated the two-time Eclipse Award winner and sent him tumbling to the main track, Prat was back in the saddle Oct. 17, hundreds of miles away at Keeneland.
Prat breezed Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) contender Magnitude there Saturday morning before returning to riding action in the afternoon at the Kentucky track, where he recorded two victories, including aboard WinStar Farm's Movie Night in the featured $381,500 Raven Run Stakes (G2).
Settled in third down the backstretch in the 7-furlong contest, Prat and Movie Night went after pacesetter Mythical on the turn and ran down the leader in the stretch. She drew clear to win by 2 lengths, completing 7 furlongs in 1:23.28, nearly a second faster than Dr. Kapur's time in taking the Perryville Stakes (G3) an hour earlier on the afternoon program.
Mythical, a 33-1 longshot, set fractions of :22.75, :45.84, and 1:10.34 and held second, a length ahead of 51-1 outsider Army's Marauder in third.
Favored Mashallah finished fifth after stumbling at the start and settling near the back of the field. Stewards reviewed her start during an inquiry but made no change to the order of finish.
Prat said the plan was to keep Movie Night relaxed early.
"She settled very nicely—almost too nicely, so that got me a bit worried," Prat said. "But she was an old pro today."
A Big Day For Walden
The victory gave trainer Will Walden extra reason to celebrate on his 36th birthday.
Movie Night had shown promise in earlier starts, including a close third in the Dogwood Stakes (G3) last month at Churchill Downs, but Saturday's performance marked her best effort in three stakes appearances. She now has a 3-1-1 record from six starts with earnings of $425,965.
Walden suggested the nighttime setting at Churchill Downs for the Dogwood may have played a role compared to Saturday's race, and pointed to the quality of the fillies she faced there. He credited Prat for his role in the victory.
"When you keep her in the middle of the track, she tends to shut off and relax, which is what he alluded to there," Walden said in remarks following Prat's. "I think that's what happened, but she was full of run when called upon."
The victory also provided a family celebration for members of the WinStar and Walden operation. Walden is the son of former WinStar Farm president and CEO Elliott Walden, while Preston Troutt—son of WinStar Farm owner Kenny Troutt and his wife, Lisa—represented the ownership in a postrace television interview.
"Just incredibly thankful to be a part of just the WinStar team," he said. "Excited for Will. He's done a great job with the horse. She ran huge today."
A Product of WinStar Farm Breeding
Movie Night is a homebred for WinStar Farm, a bay 3-year-old daughter of Speightstown, who was a foundational sire for WinStar Farm before his death in late 2023.
The winner is out of the Medaglia d'Oro mare Savvy Star, making her a half sister to Stellify (Justify ), who scored a repeat victory in the Ladies Marathon Invitational Stakes (G3T) in September at Kentucky Downs after winning that race last year.
