Bishops Bay , a six-time graded stakes-winning son of Uncle Mo, will enter stud next year at Taylor Made Stallions, the farm announced Nov. 4. He will stand for $12,500 with a stands and nurses guarantee.
"He is a great looking son of Uncle Mo, a proven sire of sires," said Travis White, CEO of Taylor Made Stallions. "He's fast and could carry his speed a mile. Those are the credentials we look for in a stallion."
Bishops Bay recorded more triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures than any son of Uncle Mo at stud—107, 106, 104, 103, 100, according to the farm—and the fastest on dirt. He excelled at a mile, winning five of seven starts over that distance, all in graded stakes company. He was graded stakes-placed at 3 and then grabbed the brass ring multiple times at 5 when he won four graded stakes, including the $500,000 Cigar Mile Handicap (G2) that he ran in 1:34.62.
WinStar Farm bred Bishops Bay out of grade 1-placed stakes winner Catch My Drift. She also is dam of grade 1-placed, grade 2 winner Catching Freedom, who won the Louisiana Derby (G2) and ran third in the 2024 Preakness Stakes (G1).
Bishops Bay sold for $450,000 to the BSW/Crow Colts Group at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. At 3, he ran second twice in graded stakes that included a loss by a head in the 2023 Peter Pan Stakes (G3) to Arcangelo , who went on to win the Belmont Stakes (G1) and be named champion 3-year-old male.
At 5, Bishops Bay was offered through the Keeneland November Horses of Racing Age Sale and sold for $1.3 million to agent Pedro Lanz on behalf of KAS Stables. For KAS, Bishops Bay won the Philip H. Iselin Stakes (G3) and Ack Ack Stakes (G3) and also ran fourth in the $20 million Saudi Cup. The victory in the Ack Ack Stakes Sept. 26 at Churchill Downs turned out to be his final race, where he defeated Coal Battle (second) and third-place finisher Owen Almighty, who just missed by a nose to Further Ado in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) Oct. 31 at Keeneland.
First or second in 16 of 18 career starts with 11 victories, Bishops Bay has $2,875,080 in career earnings, which is second only to prominent sire Nyquist among the top sons of Uncle Mo by racetrack earnings.
Uncle Mo's sons are well represented on the leading sires list. Golden Pal is this year's leading freshman sire and Yaupon , who was the leading freshman sire in 2025, is leading the second-crop sire ranks. Nyquist ranks fourth on the general leading sire standings with more than $16.9 million in progeny earnings and 14 black-type winners for this year.
